(November 22, 2019) - NBC premiered the drama "This Is Us" in 2016 touching on subjects that everyone can relate to focusing on the flashbacks and current-day lives of siblings Kevin, Kate and Randall, children of Rebecca Pearson (played by Mandy Moore). In Randall Pearson's household are his two children, Tess and Annie, wife Beth and a foster child named Deja. Deja, played by Lyric Ross, is growing up in the Pearson household and at some point is adopted by Randall, played by Emmy winning Sterling K. Brown ("Supernatural"). Randall was also adopted by parents Rebecca and Jack - Rebecca's late husband. Randall was 17 years-old when Rebecca married current husband Miguel. The current season, season four, started in late September and it has Deja with a love interest - Malik, played by Emmy winning Asante Blackk ("When They See Us"). The Pearson family lives in New Jersey and then relocated to Philadelphia.

"I play Deja," Lyric Ross said to me at the NBC Press Lunch Mixer about her role in the Golden Globe nominated drama series. "She was a foster kid. She's not a foster kid any more. She went into the Pearson household and they pretty much took her as their own."

Created by Dan Fogelman, "This Is Us," airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m/8 central on NBC.

"She ended up being adopted by Randall Pearson, so now she is part of the family and they (NBC) have recently brought in a love interest and her boyfriend is named Malik."

When asked why she thinks the show is so popular Lyric said, "Because it's relatable. You know, the show touches on a lot of things. Some things people would never have a conversation about - they would never speak on it. To bring that out is, yea, its therapeutic."
