The singer from North Carolina that was introduced to Mike
City - and managed at the time by Macy Gray - that went Gold with her debut CD "Your Woman" is preparing for her
third album release "The Sun Shines Again" on Verve Forecast November 2, 2010. In preparation for the release Sunshine
Anderson performed recently at RnB Live at the Romanov Club in Studio City, California along with others also promoting new
releases such as El Debarge with his featured guest Faith Evans, Keisha Cole and JoJo (with DeVante' Swing in the audience
as moral support).
The anticipation of all of those fine artists
at a private, invitation only, setting was thick. Everyone was made up of media, record executives and other profile artists
there to support. Even though the show didn't start until after 11pm, the audience was entertained by a fabulous talent show
put on my Interscope Records' A&R boss - who you can see on the TV One reality show "K-Ci and JoJo Come Clean."
Macy Gray served was judge at the label's finale competition showcase.
Labeled RnB Live the event had the
Romanov Club packed with standing room only. After the showcase Sunshine Anderson lead the way with a line-up of "Class
A" talent. A top notch performer herself Anderson was heard on the campus of North Carolina State University (where she
earned a BS in Criminal Justice) singing and was immediately introduced to Mike City, V.P. of A&R at Soulife Records.
City signed Sunshine and in 2001 her debut "Your Woman" album was released (via Atlantic Records). It garnered two
hot singles "Heard It All Before" and "Lunch Or Dinner."
Her sophomore CD "Sunshine
At Midnight" (via Music World Entertainment) peaked at #16 on Billboard's R&B Chart. The current new release "The
Sun Shines Again" is lead by the first single "Lie to Kick It."

The ‘Queen
of Quartet Gospel' Evelyn Turrentine-Agee releases ‘There's Gonna Be A Meeting' on Shananchie
It started with the dream of a man, Cleveland Tyler, to "record professionally" with his group The Christian Travelers
and ended with the passions of his daughter Evelyn Turrentine-Agee, now labeled the "Queen of Quartet Gospel." This
Stellar Award winner is not only recording professionally but just released her seventh album titled "There's Gonna Be
A Meeting" on Shanachie Entertainment.
"My earliest memory
I was singing with my dad...a quartet singer," said Evelyn Turrentine-Agee about her singing career as the "Queen
of Quartet Gospel." "He'd hold me up and say, ‘Sing baby sing.'"
Sing she did, first in a girl quartet group formed by her father, The Tylerettes and then - by age 17 - singing in
a quartet with her male cousins. While in college earning her degree from the University of Detroit she continued singing
as a member of the Masonettes, the Gospel Echoettes and in her own group the Gospel Warriors.
In 2001 Evelyn released her debut solo project "God Did
It." The title track earned her a BMI Award and crowned her officially the "Queen of Quartet Gospel."
I told Evelyn that her voice, delivery and song content is reminiscent of Shirley Caesar
and she did not hesitate to congratulate me for being on-point, for, as she said, "It' called the anointing, the power
to break and destroy yokes."
"That's...Shirley Caesar,"
Turrentine-Agee said about the Gospel legend. "She's my mentor from when she was with the Caravans...I remember their
last one (concert tour) Shirley Caesar couldn't make it and I filled it."
Well the influence is evident, that ‘old time Gospel" sound combined with the quartet influence makes
Evelyn a Gospel force to be reckoned with.
"This album is quartet
influenced," she pointed out about the project.
Agee used a
quartet producer on the project to get that "feel" and it is a breath taking combination. My favorite cuts on the
CD, "There's Gonna Be A Meeting," are "So Good" featuring Paul Porter; "Yes, He Can" for the
lovely lead guitar support; "Meeting," a sweet testimony; "He's Using Me" featuring James Cleveland, and
"My Job is Working for Jesus," one of those congregation marching songs.
"Take it and bless others with it," Evelyn told me to say to the readers. "I was blessed just doing
it."
