"I am a crazy lady," said Kate Burton, Emmy nominee for Outstanding Guest Actress ("Scandal"), about her role in the ABC drama. "I play Sally Lancaster. I'm the Vice President of the United States and I am a tea party Republican. I do enjoy playing a crazy lady."

I met Kate at Doris Bergman's 5th Annual Emmy Style Lounge & Party held at the world-renowned Fig & Olive restaurant in West Hollywood. Kate was amongst a long list of Emmy nominees and winners that came to partake of the many free items on display, and eat and drink as much as they wanted from the bar and kitchen.

While there I had the chance to talk briefly with also Paige Hurd ("Everybody Hates Chris") about her role in the Emmy nominated series "Hawaii Five O," Damien Puckler ("The Colony") of NBC's Emmy nominated drama "Grimm," and Ntare Mwine ("Hero") of the Emmy nominated series "Treme'." Jon Voight (Transformer), nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in the series "Ray Donovan", stopped by the red carpet area for photo opportunities. Past nominees made a visit as well, such as Eva LaRue ("CSI: Miami," "Criminal Minds").

"I'm in a pilot we're shopping around now. We're looking for a home base," Eva said during a quick interview. "It's about a cooking show and I am the cooking diva/dragon lady. It's been really, really fun. Ideally I think everybody wants to be on a major network, but at the same time I don't think they get a run-up that they need...we push the envelope. It can be a little dark... I think it can be snappier and funnier on cable."

The event was not only classy and celebrity filled, but the outside court was packed with shops of all kinds. I had to stop my red carpet interviews to taste my favorite dessert - red velvet cupcakes. Everything was in abundance (jewelry, gowns, skin and hair care products, tuxedos, suits, timepieces). As always Bergman Public Relations did an outstanding job worthy of their own Emmy nomination.

MDSUN was the major sponsor and it was presented by Gerard Cosmetics. Other sponsors include GUESS, Honest Tea, Unity, Whitening Lightning, Twisted Silver, Jones and Rose, Perch, Modelcall Magazine, Traveler's Choice, Radar Watches, Bon Bon, Fox 11, and many more. The 66th Emmy's will be aired on NBC Monday August 25, 2014 at 8 ET/5 PT.

Celebrity Chef G Garvin teams with Allstate for the ‘Give It Up for Good' campaign
chefgarvin2.jpg"It was started by Allstate," said Celebrity Chef Gerry "G" Garvin about the "Give It Up for Good" campaign he is helping to promote. "We find... people doing good that are over shadowed by bad... I think that children are taught anger and violence. Enough is enough. It's about bad choices. Lack of education... It's hard to be an African-American man and watch what's happening."

The "Give It Up for Good" Allstate campaign helps to shine light on remarkable stories of good, giving back, good deeds, community involvement and unsung heroes that often go unnoticed. Chef Garvin, who has had several cooking shows (TV One, The Cooking Channel), recently launched "Underground BBQ Challenge" on the Travel Channel which has neighborhood's competing with other neighborhoods to find America's most extreme grill masters.

"It takes a secure man to get into the kitchen and do what he does," said Garvin. "I think that men have always been great cooks, it's just not widely accepted in the African-American community. Fathers don't want to see his sons in the kitchen with pots and pans."

Chef G Garvin has his own way of giving back with his One Bite Foundation used to inspire children in the culinary arts, and address issues such as child obesity, domestic violence, homelessness and hunger. His foundation helps families in need through donations and food drives. He has even developed the Chef G Garvin's Culinary Boot Camp, a mentoring program for youth and at-rick inner city young adults.

"Personally (his motto) it's ‘Reach One, Teach One, Save a Life,'" He concluded. "Continue to do good, and influence good."
