The Pulse of Entertainment: Trey Calloway Releases ‘The Ballad of Righteous and Wrong'

(April 4, 2025) - "Wrote the song with two of my great friends...a story song," said Nashville based Country singer Trey Calloway about his new single "The Ballad of Righteous and Wrong." "For some reason I didn't want to write another run of the mill love song. We hammered it out and Hal suggested a murder (mystery). We'd write a little, then say ‘what's next?' It turned into a beautiful thing."

So, what Trey and his two great friends, Greg Wilson and Hal Odell, wrote was a story with a surprise ending to an Old Wild West saga of two brothers. The single is produced by Grady Saxman. Like me, I'm sure you will be focused on the storyline to see what happens next. At the end of the song, I was left with the desire to see that storyline in a movie. A movie, of course, that has Trey Calloway singing all the songs on the soundtrack. His pure Country vocals would be a match for that Old Wild West vibe. The soundtrack will lead with the single "The Ballad of Righteous and Wrong."

Just a couple months ago Calloway released his single "Your Love is Safe with Me," dedicated to his wife.

"'Your Love is Safe with Me' and ‘The Ballad of Righteous and Wrong" are stand alone singles," he said when I asked if the singles were attached to an upcoming album. "'Your Love is Safe with Me' is in far contrast to this single ("The Ballad of Righteous and the Wrong"), it's more a Country Wild West Texas song. The other ("Your Love is Safe with Me") is more Popish."

Calloway told me his music can be Country, Pop, Honky-Tonk, Funk and Disco. "The Ballad of Righteous and the Wrong" is an old-time Country Wild Western song, and in today's time it comes off fresh and new.

"This single is a sleeper," Trey told me as we continued to talk about the project. "As people listen, they will discover my music - a hidden treasure. I'm working on a new album, but it doesn't even have a name yet."

Trey Calloway has garnered a Texas Country Music Association nomination, and a Christian Songwriter of the Year Award for his single "Horses in Heaven." Born in North Carolina and based in Nashville Calloway debuted with the album "Wanted Man." His other singles have included "When You Walk In" (2023), "Wortha Shot (2022), and "Miss Gone by Morning" (2024).  www.TreyCallowayMusic.com
