(April 22, 2025) - "Most of the songs I do, have a groove," said saxman Kim Waters when talking about the name of his new Shanachie Entertainment album "Time 2 Groove". "I started writing it...and it became a relationship thing...I have songs for my mom and daughters."

The "Time 2 Groove" (Shanachie) project has a tribute to his mother Brenda titled "A Pure Heart." He honors his twin daughters Kayla and Kimberly on the "Their Smile" song.

"My mother is a twin," Kim said when we were talking about his twin daughters Kayla and Kimberly. "...and my Granddad is a twin."

Kim Waters was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland and is a local celebrity garnering chart-topping hits and a multi-platinum selling status as a saxophonist. On this new "Time 2 Groove" album Waters has Jazz pianist Chris "Big Dog" Davis collaborating by co-producing the "Sax You Up" track and co-writing with him on the "Palm City" selection.

"Chris Davis...I've been working with hm for years," Kim said when I was talking about the featured musicians on the "Time 2 Groove" project. "And Bernd is on guitar he is a great, great musician."

Kim Waters also receives assistance from vocalist Raynard Gibson on the ballad "Little Things." Guitarist Bernd Schoenhardt also assists and is featured on "The Pacemaker," "Sax You Up" "I Once Had Your Love," and "Your Smile" tracks

"Raynard, he is a vocalist from Baltimore. The other guy, I've worked with for a while," Waters told me when I asked.

"The Pacemaker" track is the first single from the "Time 2 Groove" project.

Also a composer and producer, Waters' humble beginnings started when he and his brothers form a band. In 1989 he decided to release a solo album and the album's home was on the Waterfall Records imprint. The debut album is titled "Sweet and Saxy." Eight years later Kim signed up with the imprint Shanachie Entertainment.

In his career Kim Waters has released, counting this new one, 27 solo albums. In 2008, he collaborated with fellow saxophonists Jeff Kashiwa and Steve Cole to form the band The Sax Pack. They have released, so far, three albums (2008, 2009, and 2015).  www.KimWaters.net
